El Archivo de Indias

 

Archivo de Indias podéis disfrutar de la antigua Casa Lonja, fue construido por orden de Felipe II en el Siglo XVI con la finalidad de destinar un edificio para las actividades de los mercaderes ante las quejas del Cabildo de la Catedral, ya que habían ocupado la misma para sus actividades comerciales. En el Siglo XVIII, Carlos III decide crear un Archivo de Indias, para lo que acomete una serie de obras entre las que destacan las estanterías construidas con ricas maderas traídas de Cuba y la impresionante escalera principal, con planchas de mármol. En el Siglo XVIII se convirtió en el principal depósito documental del Nuevo Mundo y las Filipinas.
